Egyptian giants Al Ahly have agreed to let talented defender Ahmed Abdeen travel to Portugal, where he will undergo a trial with Famalicão.

The club confirmed that Abdeen departed early this morning, following interest from Famalicão’s scouts who were impressed by his performances at the recent U-20 World Cup in Chile. Abdeen showcased both his technical and physical abilities, earning attention abroad.

According to Al Ahly’s statement, “This step comes in preparation for a possible transfer, should Famalicão present a suitable offer that matches the player’s skill and the club’s stature.” A source revealed to Kooora that Abdeen is likely to join Famalicão on loan until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent move if all parties agree.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s squad returned to Cairo after winning the Egyptian Super Cup against rivals Zamalek in Abu Dhabi, though some players remained behind to join national team camps for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Injuries affected the squad, including Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, who will miss out on national duty after muscle strain was confirmed in medical checks.
