Al Ahly’s hunt for a new manager hit a roadblock after talks with former RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose collapsed due to financial issues.
A club source revealed that the Egyptian giants could not agree with Rose on terms related to bonuses and the composition of the coaching staff, leading to a breakdown in negotiations.
Rose was seen as a strong candidate to replace Swiss coach Marcel Koller, who was dismissed after Al Ahly’s disappointing exit in the CAF Champions League semi-finals at the hands of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
“The next phase needs a coach with special specifications to fulfil the ambitions of the club and its fans, and Al Ahly president Mahmoud Al Khatib is seeking to sign a special coach,” the source told Kooora.
Despite this setback, Al Ahly remains active in its search and is expected to continue evaluating potential candidates with the right experience and vision to take charge of the team.
The club is determined to move forward and rebuild after a tough season.
