Al Ahly contact Egypt over Yasser Ibrahim’s fitness ahead of AFCON 2027 qualifiers

Al Ahly have provided an injury update to the medical team of Egypt ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which kick-start this month.

Egypt are set to regroup during the upcoming international break as they prepare for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Angola and South Sudan.

The Pharaohs will travel to face Angola on September 25 before taking on South Sudan on September 29.

Ibrahim, who is part of the Al Ahly first-team squad, is currently undergoing physical therapy and rehabilitation after suffering an injury to the medial and lateral ligaments of his ankle.

The defender underwent fresh medical scans in recent hours to assess the progress of his condition and determine the next steps in his recovery.

Al Ahly medical chief Dr Ahmed Gaballah confirmed that he has been in direct contact with Egypt national team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela regarding the player.

Gaballah provided Abu El-Ela with details of Ibrahim’s latest medical examinations and his current injury status, as both sides continue to coordinate over the defender’s recovery.

Ibrahim’s fitness will be closely monitored in the coming days as Egypt prepare for their upcoming qualifiers, with his availability for the September camp dependent on his recovery and medical assessment.

The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group B of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers alongside Angola, South Sudan and Malawi.
