Al Ahly complete signing of Algerian forward Mounsef Bekar from Dinamo Zagreb
Egyptian giants Al Ahly have officially announced the signing of Algerian attacker Mounsef Bekar from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb as part of their preparations for the 2026-2027 football season.
The Cairo-based club confirmed through their official website that Bekar has joined the Red Devils on a three-year contract, becoming the latest addition to Marcel Koller’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Al Ahly’s contracts sector chief, Dr. Essam Serag El-Din, travelled to Croatia to finalize all financial and administrative procedures related to the transfer. The negotiations were completed in coordination with football director Wael Gomaa, ensuring the deal was concluded successfully.
The Egyptian champions reached an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for Bekar’s transfer after identifying the Algerian as one of their main targets to strengthen the attacking department.
According to reports, Al Ahly secured the services of the player after agreeing to pay a transfer fee of around $3 million to the Croatian club.
Bekar arrives at Al Ahly with an impressive record from his time in Croatia. The Algerian international enjoyed a standout 2025-2026 season with Dinamo Zagreb, where he emerged as one of the team’s most productive attacking players.
The forward scored 18 goals and provided five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, attracting attention with his consistency, finishing ability and attacking contributions.
His performances convinced Al Ahly’s management that he possesses the qualities required to compete at the highest level and contribute to the club’s ambitions in domestic competitions, the CAF Champions League and international tournaments.
The signing represents another major move by Al Ahly as they continue to rebuild and strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Before completing the Bekar deal, the Egyptian champions had already secured the services of three other players during the summer transfer window — Sofiane Benjedida, Ali Mahmoud and Abdullah Aktay.
With the arrival of Bekar, Al Ahly are expected to continue their recruitment drive as they aim to maintain their dominance in Egyptian football and remain competitive on the African stage.
