Marcel Koller is switching things up ahead of Al Ahly’s critical clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League semi-final.
The Swiss coach has decided that the team’s final training session will now take place at Cairo Stadium instead of their usual base at Mokhtar El-Tesh.
Al Ahly resumed training today at Mokhtar El-Tesh following their goalless draw in the first leg in South Africa. The squad will continue preparations with their main training session on Wednesday at the same venue, where three players are also expected to address the media as per African Union rules.
After that, the team will enter a closed camp to sharpen focus. Koller’s decision to switch the final session venue is seen as a tactical move—Cairo Stadium offers a feel of the actual match environment, possibly giving his players an edge before Friday night.
On Thursday, Koller and captain Mohamed El Shenawy will speak to the press at Cairo Stadium, where the final session will also be held later that day.
