Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller is focused on securing qualification to the CAF Champions League semifinals over Al Hilal.
The Egyptian powerhouse takes on the Sudanese giants in the second leg of the quarterfinals on Tuesday night in Mauritania, as both teams battle for a place in the semifinals.
The first leg clash held at the Cairo International stadium ended 1-0 in favour of Al Ahly. However, Al Hilal must overturn the scoreline to book a place in the semifinals.
“Al Ahly players have extensive experience in this regard and have dealt with such situations many times. Our focus is more on performance and we do not occupy our minds with any external matters.”
“Qualifying for the quarter-finals is not important, whether you are first or second in the group. What is important in the subsequent rounds is that we advance past the quarter-finals and reach the semi-finals and the final.” He continued
“In the first leg against Al Hilal in Cairo, we controlled the game and wasted many opportunities and only scored one goal. This is football, while our opponent had only one chance throughout the 90 minutes. We hope that the return match will be the same and that we can maintain the victory and advance from this round.”
“The mental and physical level of the team is constantly improving, especially since we are in the middle of the season. We hope to raise our mental and physical level during tomorrow’s match and achieve victory.”
“We are primarily focused on tomorrow’s match and are not concerned with anything other than achieving victory and qualifying for the next round. We are not concerned with who we will face, especially since we have a strong match ahead of us. After it ends, we can think about what comes next.”
