Al Ahly coach Jess Thorup and captain Mohamed El Shenawy ready for Zamalek clash with title in their sights

Jess Thorup, the manager of Al Ahly, affirmed his squad’s readiness for the Egyptian Super Cup final against rivals Zamalek at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Thorup said, “We took an important step by beating Ceramica Cleopatra and qualifying for the final. We know very well the meaning of this historic match for Al Ahly and its supporters. We’re here to win the title and eagerly await our fans’ support to achieve victory.”

Thorup emphasized continuous evaluation and development: “No team in the world plays without mistakes. What matters is learning from them and fixing them. Our attacking cohesion was excellent, and my approach is based on giving players freedom of movement. The most important thing is how the group performs as a unit.” He confirmed the whole squad is fit, with the starting lineup to be chosen after the final training session.

Captain Mohamed El Shenawy echoed the coach’s sentiments: “We finished the first step by reaching the final after beating Ceramica Cleopatra. We fully understand the value of the final match, for us as players and for the coaching staff. Our preparation is focused on our goal of winning the trophy.” Shenawy also thanked fans, noting, “Al Ahly fans always stand behind the team. They’re our biggest source of motivation, and we play to make them happy.”

Both stressed the team’s happiness playing in the UAE, enjoying the spirited atmosphere provided by enthusiastic supporters. This positive energy, they agreed, would propel Al Ahly forward in their quest for another Super Cup triumph.
