Al Ahly close to signing Mahmoud Salah before Barcelona Gamper Cup clash

Egyptian giants Al Ahly are reportedly close to completing another signing this summer, with a deal for Mahmoud Salah said to be virtually finalised ahead of their meeting with Barcelona in the Gamper Cup on 19 August.

According to journalist Mohamed Shobeir, negotiations for the player have reached an advanced stage, with the transfer described as 99.99% complete.

The move would add another player to Al Ahly’s growing list of summer recruits as the Cairo giants look to strengthen their squad for the new season.

Mahmoud Salah deal nearing completion

Former Al Ahly and Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Shobeir revealed that the club is on the verge of reaching an agreement for Salah.

Speaking on ON Sport FM, Shobeir said: “The deal for Mahmoud Salah is almost finished, with a percentage of 99.9% in favor of Al-Ahly club.”

He also revealed that Al Ahly will not meet the initial asking price set by Ghazl El-Mahalla.

“Al-Ahly will not pay the 50 million pounds that Ghazl El-Mahalla requested, but the club reached an agreement stipulating that the other party would waive part of its financial demands.”

The agreement would pave the way for Salah to join the Egyptian champions once the final details are completed.

Al Ahly continue busy summer recruitment

The reported deal would be another addition to an active transfer window for Al Ahly.

The club have already completed four signings, bringing in Aktai Abdullah and Ali Mahmoud from Enppi, alongside foreign recruits Mounsef Bekar and Soufiane Benjedida, who previously played for Maghreb Fez.

The Egyptian giants are continuing to reshape their squad following a disappointing campaign in which they failed to secure a major trophy.

Barcelona test awaits Al Ahly

Al Ahly are also preparing for a high-profile meeting with Barcelona in the Gamper Cup on 19 August.

The fixture will provide an early opportunity for the club’s new signings and an indication of how the squad is taking shape ahead of the new season.
