Al Ahly await verdict on Emam Ashour ahead of Delphi friendly
The technical staff of Al Ahly, led by Jess Thorup, are awaiting a final decision on the availability of Imam Ashour for Thursday evening’s friendly encounter against Delphi following his recent recovery from a knee injury.
According to a source within the club, Thorup is expected to meet with club doctor Dr. Ahmed Gaballah to assess the midfielder’s condition and decide whether he is fit enough to feature in the match or should be granted additional recovery time.
Meanwhile, another source at the club confirmed that Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has fully recovered and is medically cleared to participate after completing his rehabilitation programme.
However, the final decision regarding Trezeguet’s involvement will rest with the technical staff, who are keen to ensure every player is in optimal condition ahead of the crucial league clash against Al Masry later this month.
Al Ahly are scheduled to face Delphi in a friendly match at 6 p.m. today at Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium in Gezira as part of preparations aimed at maintaining the squad’s technical and physical sharpness before returning to competitive action.
The Egyptian giants will conclude their Premier League campaign against Al Masry on May 20 at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
