Al Ahly and Pyramids will now meet at Al Salam International Stadium after a late venue change for their fifth-round Egyptian League match.
The highly anticipated game, scheduled for August 30, was originally set for Cairo Stadium, but ongoing maintenance forced the Egyptian Football Association to move it.
Pyramids confirmed receiving official notification of the switch on Monday. A club source speaking to Kooora dismissed rumors suggesting the team had refused proposals to stage both league fixtures against Al Ahly at the Air Defense Stadium. He stressed that such an idea was never presented by the Clubs Association and described the reports as false.
The reshuffle extends beyond this fixture. Modern Sport against Zamalek in the third round will now take place at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, while Zed’s fourth-round meeting with Wadi Degla has been moved to El Mokawloon Stadium.
The closure of Cairo Stadium was requested by national coach Hossam Hassan as Egypt prepares for a World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia. Ismaily also had its matches in the fifth and seventh rounds reassigned to Ismailia following a club request.
