Mahmoud Salah set to join Al Ahly

Al Ahly have taken another major step towards signing Ghazl El Mahalla midfielder Mahmoud Salah after the player reportedly agreed personal terms with the Egyptian giants.

According to reports, Salah has already signed a five-year contract with Al Ahly, moving the club closer to completing the deal for one of their key targets in the current summer transfer window.

The move is part of Al Ahly’s efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the club continuing to identify promising talents from the Egyptian league.

Despite the agreement between Salah and Al Ahly, the transfer is yet to be formally completed as the two clubs continue negotiations over the final transfer fee.

Officials from Al Ahly and Ghazl El Mahalla are expected to meet within the next 24 hours to discuss the remaining details and work towards reaching a final agreement before the contracts between the clubs are signed.

Al Ahly have reportedly improved their initial offer for the player to EGP 35 million, in addition to a percentage of any future resale fee.

The Cairo giants had previously offered EGP 30 million for Salah but increased their proposal as they seek to reach an agreement with Ghazl El Mahalla.

However, Ghazl El Mahalla are holding firm on their valuation of the player and are demanding EGP 50 million to approve his departure.

The difference in valuation remains the main issue between the two clubs, with further discussions expected in the coming hours.

Salah has emerged as one of Ghazl El Mahalla’s notable players, attracting the attention of Al Ahly, who see the midfielder as an important addition to their squad ahead of the new campaign.

With the player already agreeing to a five-year contract, the focus has now shifted to negotiations between the two clubs as Al Ahly look to close the gap with Ghazl El Mahalla and complete the transfer.
