Al Ahly set 10-match benchmark to decide Hussein Ammouta’s future

Al Ahly will reportedly wait until Hussein Ammouta has completed his first 10 matches before deciding whether the Moroccan coach will continue in charge of the Egyptian giants.

Egyptian media reports, citing media personality Medhat Shalaby, say Ammouta currently retains the confidence of the Al Ahly hierarchy despite uncertainty over his long-term future.

Al Ahly set target for Ammouta

According to Egyptian website Al-Watan Sport, Shalaby revealed that the discussions within Al Ahly indicate that Ammouta is expected to remain in charge for the time being.

The report says the club will assess his position after the first 10 league matches of the season.

“Al-Ahly Club will wait for the first ten matches, and if the team tops the league, Moroccan Hussein Ammouta will continue his journey with the club normally. However, if the opposite happens, his dismissal will be the most likely decision, and the replacement will be an Egyptian coach in the coming period.”

The report indicates that Ammouta’s immediate position is therefore not under threat, with the club prepared to give him an opportunity to prove himself during the opening part of the campaign.

Ammouta prepares for Zamalek showdown

Ammouta’s next major test will come against Al Ahly’s fierce rivals Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian League.

The Cairo derby is scheduled to take place at Cairo International Stadium on October 11.

Al Ahly will be hoping for a positive result as Ammouta looks to strengthen his position and maintain the confidence reportedly placed in him by the club.
