Al Ahli Jeddah have no plans to sell Matheus Goncalves

Al Ahli Jeddah have no intention of selling Brazilian winger Matheus Goncalves, according to a report by Okaz.

Reports suggesting the Saudi club are considering ending their association with the 21-year-old during the current period are incorrect, the newspaper said.

Goncalves remains part of the Al Ahli Jeddah squad and there is no current plan to release him or make him available for transfer. The club continue to include him in their plans, with his technical ability and age understood to be important factors behind their stance.

The winger joined Al Ahli Jeddah from Brazilian club Flamengo on 1 September 2025. His contract runs until the end of the 2026-27 season and is due to expire in the summer of 2027.

He has made 22 appearances in the Saudi league so far, playing a total of 1,457 minutes. During that time, Goncalves has scored two goals and provided two assists.

Of those appearances, 21 have come during the 2025-26 season, in which he has played 1,424 minutes. His contribution has included one goal and two assists in the campaign.

The Brazilian is regarded by Al Ahli Jeddah as one of the young players recruited as part of the club’s investment project focused on promising talent. His age, alongside the belief in his ability, has reinforced the club’s decision to retain him.

Goncalves therefore remains under contract and within the first-team plans at Al Ahli Jeddah, despite the speculation over a possible sale. The report did not indicate that the club were preparing to negotiate his departure or looking for a replacement.

His agreement with Al Ahli Jeddah still has two seasons remaining beyond the current campaign, subject to the stated expiry date in the summer of 2027. The club’s position, as reported by Okaz, is that the player will continue with the team rather than be moved on.

The latest report also underlines the role assigned to Goncalves within Al Ahli Jeddah’s wider recruitment strategy. The club signed the winger while he was still only 20 and continue to view him as a player whose age and technical qualities make him a valuable part of their future plans.

For now, the available information points to continuity for the Flamengo academy product at Al Ahli Jeddah, rather than a transfer during the current period.
