Akram Tawfik has made a decisive step in his football journey, departing Cairo early this morning as he edges closer to a new chapter with Qatari side Al Shamal SC.
The Al Ahly midfielder is expected to complete a medical examination shortly after landing in Doha before being formally unveiled to the Qatari media.
Tawfik’s decision not to extend his contract with Al Ahly, which runs out at the end of the current season, paved the way for his switch. He has now committed to Al Shamal SC on a three-year deal, with the final season subject to mutual agreement between player and club.
A source told Kooora that the player will make a brief return to Cairo in the coming days to finalise personal matters before linking up officially with his new team for the upcoming campaign.
Tawfik, known for his composure in midfield and work rate, is expected to be a key figure for Al Shamal as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Qatari Stars League season.
