Hope Akpan, a 21-year-old midfielder, has completed a move to the English Premier League club Reading from Crawley, a team in the third division. Akpan, who had previous experience in the Premier League with Everton in 2010, signed a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Reading manager Brian Dermott expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating, “He has such talent that we couldn’t ignore him. There were several clubs who wanted him during this transfer window, but he chose us. This shows that despite his young age, he is very composed and wants to succeed.”

Born in England to Nigerian parents, Hope Akpan has expressed his desire to play for Nigeria at the senior level and is eagerly awaiting his first call-up.
