Akor Adams has credited fellow Nigerians Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho for encouraging him to make the move to Sevilla FC.
Speaking at his official unveiling at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, Adams expressed excitement about his new chapter with the La Liga club, where he has signed a contract until 2029 after leaving Montpellier.
It was a very positive day with many good people.
I am very happy to be here,” said the 24-year-old striker.
I spoke to Ejuke, who told me I should come.
Kelechi, a great player, also advised me. I am happy I listened to them.
First impressions of Sevilla
Adams, who arrived in Spain on Saturday, experienced the atmosphere of his new home stadium during a match against Espanyol.
Despite a draw, he was impressed by the electric environment.
“It was fantastic. The atmosphere was incredible,” he said. “The fans are great.
We should have won, but Espanyol defended well. Hopefully, we win the next game.
The Nigerian international, who has admired Sevilla’s European success over the years, spoke of his pride in joining a club with such a rich history.
It’s a great club. A pleasure to be here,” he said. “I’m here to play a part in this history and write my own.
Ready to make an impact
Adams highlighted his versatility and determination on the pitch, noting his ability to adapt to different attacking roles.
I like to play in spaces, alone or with another striker.
My main goal is to score goals,” he said. He also credited the warm reception from fans and teammates for helping him feel both physically and mentally prepared for the challenges ahead.
Reflecting on his career so far, Adams shared his ambition to replicate the success he achieved at previous clubs, particularly Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK.
I hope to continue that here in a new environment and system, he added.
Following in the footsteps of African legends
Adams expressed his desire to contribute to Sevilla’s proud tradition of African players who have left a lasting mark on the club.
I aspire to follow in the footsteps of the great African players who have been part of this club’s history,” he said.
With a strong support system, a passion for the game, and the backing of Sevilla’s devoted fans, Adams is ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of his new journey in La Liga.
