USM Alger Bolsters Squad with Arrival of French Midfielder Akim Orinel
USM Alger have continued their summer recruitment drive by securing the services of French midfielder Akim Orinel, as the club aims to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old playmaker joins the reigning Algerian champions from French third-division side Étoile Fréjus Saint-Raphaël. His arrival was officially confirmed by the club on Monday.
Orinel brings experience and technical flair to the midfield, having previously played for LB Châteauroux in Ligue 2, where he made a strong impression during the 2011–2012 campaign. His performances in France’s professional and semi-professional ranks have caught the attention of USMA’s technical staff, who see him as a valuable addition to the squad.
The French-born midfielder becomes the fourth signing of the off-season for the Algiers-based club. He follows defender Salim Laâssami and goalkeepers Abdennour Merzouki and Mourad Berrefane, as USMA look to bolster both their depth and experience.
USM Alger, known for their ambition and domestic dominance in recent years, are targeting a strong showing in both the Algerian league and continental competitions. Club officials have made clear that reinforcing the squad is a top priority as they prepare for the new campaign.
Orinel’s signing is expected to add creativity in the middle of the park, with the player known for his vision, passing range, and ability to link up play between midfield and attack.
No financial details of the transfer have been disclosed.
