Ajax have officially announced the signing of promising Moroccan left-back Fouad Zahouani, marking another investment in young international talent as the club continues to build for the future.

The 20-year-old defender has joined the Dutch giants from Moroccan side Union Touarga Sport, signing a contract that runs until 2029. Reports suggest the transfer fee is around €500,000, underlining Ajax’s continued strategy of identifying emerging players before their market value rises significantly.

Zahouani’s move to Amsterdam represents a major step forward in his career, as he prepares to test himself in one of Europe’s most development-focused and competitive environments.

The young left-back came through the youth system at Union Touarga and established himself in the first team after breaking into senior football in 2024. During his time at the Moroccan club, he made 24 appearances, scoring once and providing one assist, while showing steady development in both defensive and attacking phases of his game.

His performances at domestic level also earned him recognition on the international stage, with Zahouani already receiving a senior cap for the Morocco national football team, further highlighting his rapid rise in the game.

Zahouani is widely regarded as an attacking-minded left-back, comfortable pushing forward from deep positions while also maintaining defensive discipline. His versatility and technical ability are seen as key reasons behind Ajax’s decision to secure his services on a long-term deal.

According to Transfermarkt valuations, the Moroccan defender is currently valued at around €1.2 million, suggesting Ajax may have secured a potentially high-upside player at a relatively low cost in today’s transfer market.

The move is expected to provide Zahouani with a significant platform to develop further, with Ajax known for their strong track record of nurturing young talents and integrating them into top-level European football.

As he begins a new chapter in Amsterdam, Zahouani will be aiming to adapt quickly to the demands of Dutch football and establish himself as a key part of Ajax’s future plans.
