Ajax tracking Union Touarga defend Fouad Zahouani after impressive season
AFC Ajax are reportedly keeping a close watch on Moroccan defender Fouad Zahouani after his impressive performances for Union Touarga Sportif during the season.
The Dutch club are said to have intensified their scouting efforts in recent weeks as they continue to monitor the progress of the 20-year-old left-back, who has emerged as one of the promising young talents in Moroccan football.
Zahouani, who was developed at the Mohammed VI Academy, enjoyed a strong campaign in the Botola Pro with Union Touarga Sportif, establishing himself as a regular starter despite his young age.
The Moroccan defender has attracted attention for his tactical awareness, composure on the ball and versatility across the back line.
Although naturally a left-back, he is also capable of operating in central defence, a quality believed to have further increased Ajax’s interest in his profile.
Ajax have built a reputation for developing young technically gifted footballers, and Zahouani is reportedly viewed as a player capable of fitting into the club’s dynamic football philosophy.
The defender’s rise has also been reflected at international level with Morocco’s youth national teams. Despite his age, Zahouani already possesses significant experience in youth competitions and has collected several honours during his development.
Among his achievements are victories at the U20 World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations for locally-based players and the Arab Cup with Morocco’s youth sides.
He also reached the finals of both the U20 Africa Cup of Nations and the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, further highlighting his consistency at continental youth level.
Zahouani remains under contract with Union Touarga Sportif until 2030, while his market value has reportedly climbed to one million euros following his performances this season.
Although several European clubs are believed to be monitoring the young Moroccan international, Ajax currently appear to be among the most attentive admirers as the summer transfer window approaches.
The Dutch giants are reportedly continuing to assess his development closely before deciding whether to make a formal move for the defender in the coming months.
