Last Tuesday, Africa Top Sports.com reported that Fabrizio Ravanelli is no longer the coach of Ajaccio following their 1-3 defeat against Valenciennes. Ravanelli served on the Ligue 1 bench for 12 days before parting ways with the club.
Expressing his disappointment, Ravanelli stated, “I’m really disappointed, it hurts me. That’s the life of football. I worked, I did everything to make it work, it didn’t work. I am not angry. We had a lot of problems, I never had the full team.”
President Alain Orsoni acknowledged that it was the coach who made the decision to step down and emphasized the difficulty in accepting it. He said, “We have decided to stop our collaboration with Fabrizio Ravanelli and Gianpiero Ventrone. It was not an easy decision to make because from a human point of view, I really liked these two men. I wished it would work. Since my presidency, I have never seen a staff work so much, without counting the hours. They took their task to heart. However, my responsibility as president forced me to make a decision in the interest of the club. Tonight’s result did not influence my choice. It was a carefully considered choice which was decided after the defeat against Nantes. I’m not saying that this solution will necessarily be the right one, the future will tell us, but something had to be done.”
