AJ Auxerre have opened talks to sign Morocco international Oussama El Azzouzi in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a top transfer target for several following an impressive performance for the Italian outfit.
He joined Bologna for a fee of just over €2m back in 2023 and since established himself as a key member of the team. In his first season, he made 20 appearances in all competitions, including 18 appearances in Serie A. In that time, he netted two goals and registered two assists.
However, El Azzouzi featured much less prominently last season, making just three appearances in all competitions, accumulating a mere 25 minutes of playing time.
His absence was due to a knee injury suffered at the start of the campaign. Despite returning at the turn of the year, he could not force his way back into the Bologna side.
Auxerre are now in talks to bring the defensive midfielder to Ligue 1 ahead of next season.
El Azzouzi, who was born in the Netherlands opted to represent Morocco at the international level and has since marked six appearances after marking his debut in 2023.
