Mali is in the process of searching for a new coach following the departure of Patrice Carteron to TP Mazembe. The Football Federation (Fémafoot) has received around a hundred applications for the coaching position. Among the notable applicants is François Zahoui, who was the African vice-champion with the Ivory Coast Elephants in 2012. This marks his third attempt at securing a coaching position, having previously applied for roles with the Gabon national team and the Indomitable Lions without success.
Other familiar names in the list of applicants include Didier Six, former coach of the Togo Sparrowhawks and quarter-finalist with them in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Claude Le Roy, a seasoned coach who previously led the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Henri Michel, Patrice Neveu, and Manuel Amoroso, all of French nationality, are also among the candidates.
It will be interesting to see who Mali ultimately selects as its new coach from this diverse pool of experienced candidates.
