Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti shines with remarkable comeback in CAF Champions League
Moroccan goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti is enjoying a superb return to form, emerging as one of the standout performers in this season’s CAF Champions League.
The FAR Rabat stopper again impressed as his side reached the semi-finals by knocking out holders Pyramids with a 2-1 away win in Cairo, following a 1-1 draw in Rabat.
Tagnaouti currently sits top of the charts for most saves in the competition, with 22 successful stops so far, according to Sofascore statistics. His sharp reflexes and authority in the box have been central to FAR’s historic run, especially in high-pressure away fixtures against some of Africa’s strongest attacks.
He also ranks second among CAF Champions League goalkeepers for clean sheets, having kept three shutouts to this point of the tournament. In terms of save percentage, Tagnaouti is third with an impressive 85%, underlining the consistency and stability he brings behind his defence.
With numbers like these, the 30-year-old has firmly placed himself among the leading contenders for the competition’s Golden Glove award, provided he maintains this level as the knockout rounds progress.
