Al Ahly midfielder Ahmed Nabil Koka has asked the club’s management to clarify their position on an offer he received from Portugal in recent days.

Portuguese side Alverca sent an official proposal to buy out the remaining months of his contract, which expires at the end of the current season.

A source inside Al Ahly told Kooora that the club initially asked Koka to wait until board member and deputy head of football Sayed Abdelhafiz returned from a trip to Europe. After Abdelhafiz came back, the player repeated his request to finalize the move, but the decision was postponed again because of New Year holidays.

The source added that Koka has now contacted the club once more, stressing that the Portuguese team will not wait long and wants a clear, final answer.

The situation has put Al Ahly in a real bind. The same source pointed out that the club is close to losing Palestinian midfielder Hamed Hamdan of Petrojet, who is on the verge of joining Pyramids, leaving Al Ahly without a strong replacement for Koka, who remains determined to leave and not renew his deal.
