Ahmed Mostafa Zizo sparks concern for Al Ahly before key JS Kabylie clash
Al Ahly’s technical staff are worried after winger Ahmed Mostafa Zizo was forced to leave Egypt’s match against Uzbekistan at the Al Ain International Tournament in the UAE due to a minor muscle injury.
The concern is amplified by the potential absence of Mahmoud Trezeguet Hassan in the upcoming match against Algeria’s JS Kabylie, scheduled for next Saturday in the CAF Champions League group stage.
According to a club source, Zizo will undergo a medical checkup with the national team, and Al Ahly’s football director Walid Salah El-Din is in contact with Egypt team officials for updates. The team will also be missing Hussein El Shahat and Ashraf Dari. Trezeguet’s participation remains uncertain as he recovers from a hamstring strain, while El Shahat continues his rehab following an earlier injury.
Imam Ashour, recently back from a long layoff with a collarbone injury, is fit but must build both physical and technical readiness after just a brief return to play.
Coach Jess Thorup and his staff have just returned from celebrating Egypt’s Super Cup win. Thorup will lead training tomorrow as Al Ahly prepares for the crucial group opener.
Al Ahly also added three young talents, Mohamed Za’louk, Mohamed Raafat, and Mohamed Haitham Abdel Azim, to their African squad to strengthen the team for the campaign ahead.
The Egyptian league has delayed three matches due to the continental competition’s busy schedule, further shaping Al Ahly’s preparations for this important phase.
