Ahmed Massoud was sent off for the first time in his career as Gouna faced Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup group stage.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper was initially shown a straight red card in the 14th minute after handling the ball outside his penalty area. The referee then reviewed the incident on video before confirming the dismissal.
It was the first sending-off of Massoud’s career, either directly or as a result of receiving two yellow cards.
Massoud began his professional career with Telephonat Beni Suef during the 2012-13 season. He later joined Al Masry before moving to Misr Lel Makkasa.
The goalkeeper subsequently returned to Al Masry, then left the club to sign for Tala’ea El Gaish. He later moved to Gouna.
The match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab was Massoud’s 262nd appearance in all competitions.
