Ahmed Hossam Mido has stepped up to defend Zamalek’s troubled football project, offering full backing to new coach Ayman Al-Ramadi while calling for calm and unity around the club.
The former striker and current planning committee member stressed that while José Peseiro’s time at the helm was disappointing, he wasn’t solely to blame for the poor run of form that led to his departure. Mido acknowledged the team failed to improve under Peseiro, which led to a mutual termination.
Now, all focus turns to the Egyptian Cup final on 5 June. Mido believes Zamalek can finish the season on a high and has placed full confidence in Ramadi.
“The players feel comfortable after Ramadi took charge, he is a convincing coach and has a clear style,” Mido said.
He addressed Zamalek’s wider problems too, from contract disputes to financial gaps.
Despite efforts to discredit the planning committee, Mido vowed to speak out if needed, noting a sports director will be appointed on 1 June.
He also revealed transfer plans that never materialised, including a near-move for Feston Mayele.
