Ahmed Hossam “Mido” expresses concerns over Egypt’s performance in AFCON

Ahmed Hossam "Mido" expresses concerns over Egypt's performance in AFCON

Ahmed Hossam “Mido,” former star of Zamalek and the Egyptian national team, voiced deep dissatisfaction with the Pharaohs’ draw against Mozambique in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Speaking on the “Al-Rimontada” program on Al-Mehwar channel, Mido stated, “Egypt drew with Mozambique in the final moments of the match.”

He added, “The Egyptian national team was supposed to send a message that it is in its best condition, but unfortunately, this message did not reach.

It’s not just because of the result, but there are many question marks, whether in the lineup, or any reaction after falling behind, or the substitutions made by coach Vitoria, which were not effective.”

Mido continued, “We are concerned from the start of the Egyptian national team.

We hoped for a better start, and to send a message to all the coaches in the Africa Cup of Nations that the team, no matter how far, can intimidate anyone.”

The former footballer highlighted several aspects of the match that raised concerns among fans and football analysts.

Mido’s critique extended to the team’s performance, tactical decisions, and the overall message conveyed by the Egyptian squad in their opening game.

As Egypt strives to navigate the challenges of the tournament, Mido’s analysis draws attention to areas that may require improvement for the team to make a strong impact on the continental stage.
