Ahmed Hassan Mahgoub Abdelmoneim, better known as Kouka, is closing in on a fresh chapter in his football journey, this time in Saudi Arabia.
The 32-year-old Egyptian striker is set to join Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer after the club’s earlier move for Dutch forward Luuk de Jong fell apart.
With a clear need for firepower, Al-Ettifaq also considered Callum Wilson, recently released by Newcastle United. But as negotiations with de Jong hit a dead end due to agent complications, the club swiftly turned to the seasoned Egyptian international.
Transfer expert Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato revealed that Al-Ettifaq and Kouka have now reached an agreement, bringing the experienced forward to the Gulf region after a rich career across Europe.
Kouka has built a solid reputation playing for clubs like Rio Ave and Braga in Portugal, Olympiacos in Greece, and several Turkish sides. His last stint was a six-month spell with French Ligue 1 outfit Le Havre.
His move signals a new phase for Al-Ettifaq as they aim to boost their squad with proven international talent.
