Ahmed Hassan criticizes Egyptian football association following reports of contracting with Hossam Hassan

Former Egypt national team captain Ahmed Hassan launched a scathing attack on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Tuesday evening following reports of Hossam Hassan taking on the role of coaching the national team.

Ahmed Hassan, in a Facebook post accompanied by an image, stated: “I remember this post vividly, but I did not expect the worst to come at such a rapid pace.

Black comedy is the theme of this period, and the confusion persists.

This is something Egyptian football does not deserve at all, with arbitrary decisions constantly emerging from decision-makers.

We keep repeating the same mistakes and never seem to learn from past lessons.”

He continued: “The Egyptian Football Association issued a statement announcing the departure of Roy Vitoria, the national team’s head coach, and the appointment of Captain Mohamed Youssef as a coach, with a new foreign head coach set to be selected for the national team.”

“With this statement, Captain Alaa Nabil was appointed as the technical director of the EFA. He came out questioning and surprised about the identity of the upcoming national team head coach, whether foreign or Egyptian!

It would have been more appropriate to direct this question to those who issued the statement announcing that the next head coach would be a foreigner, namely the gentlemen at the Egyptian Football Association, who have always been accustomed to hasty, arbitrary decisions.

We’ve seen this same scenario before when Ehab Galal was appointed, lasted two months, and then left, followed by Hodgson with a fabulous contract afterward, and the result was zero,” Ahmed Hassan pointed out.

Furthermore, he emphasized, “Continuing the confusion, Captain Mohamed Youssef was appointed as a coach a year before selecting the head coach, a position he previously held as coach of Al Ahly and many other clubs, achieving the African Champions League and the African Super Cup as a coach for Al Ahly.

It is difficult to work under the leadership of an Egyptian head coach, as it appears that the position of team manager was offered to him instead of the assistant coach.”

“The worst has come quickly, and the confusion persists. The prestige of Egyptian football is paying the price, and anyone who speaks up is accused of trading.

The Egyptian public asks, do we deserve all that is happening, and when will those responsible for all the failures that have occurred and are occurring one after another be held accountable, and when will they restore even a small part of what Egyptian football truly deserves?” Ahmed Hassan concluded.

In conclusion, whatever decision is awaited regarding the appointment of the head coach, whether it is Captain Hossam Hassan or someone else, we ultimately hope to provide a healthy environment for success because, in the end, it is the Egypt national team that has turned into a field of experiments by some amateurs who cannot make the right decisions.
