For Ahmed Hany, the Ceramica Cleopatra right-back, Wednesday brought news he had long dreamed of.

The Egyptian reserve team, currently in camp at Ismailia, has called him up to join the Pharaohs as they prepare for two friendly matches against Tunisia.

Hani’s inclusion came after a late decision by the coaching staff. Ahmed Hassan, manager of the reserve side, confirmed that the squad needed fresh options in defense. He explained that Al Ahly full-back Karim Fouad felt muscle fatigue during training, leading the staff to rest him as a precaution.

The national setup, led by Helmy Toulan, opted to add Hani to the group. Hassan told reporters the plan is for Fouad to sit out the first friendly while aiming for involvement in the second. That decision opened the door for Hani, who has been steadily improving with Ceramica Cleopatra in the domestic league.

For the 27-year-old, it is a moment to show his worth and seize the opportunity to impress on an international stage.
