Ahmed Gaafar appointed Zamalek youth sector technical director

Former Zamalek striker Ahmed Gaafar has returned to the club in a new role after being appointed technical director of its youth sector.

The decision was taken by Zamalek’s board, according to FilGoal.com, as part of a wider structure for the club’s youth, junior and academy operations.

The full line-up for the sectors is as follows:

– Hazem Emam – president of the youth, junior and academy sectors – Emad El-Mandoh – vice-president of the youth, junior and academy sectors – Adel El-Maamour – technical director responsible for goalkeeper coaches in the youth sector – Ahmed Gaafar – technical director of Zamalek’s youth sector

Gaafar’s appointment gives the former Zamalek player responsibility for the club’s youth football programme. His role will cover the technical management of the youth sector within the structure overseen by former Egypt international Hazem Emam.

Emam has served as president of Zamalek’s football sectors since the beginning of the season. He will continue to oversee the youth, junior and academy sections, with Emad El-Mandoh acting as his deputy.

Adel El-Maamour has been handed a specific technical role focused on the coaches responsible for developing goalkeepers in the youth sector.

Gaafar confirmed his return to Zamalek in a message posted on his personal Facebook account after the announcement.

“Returning to the big house as technical director of Zamalek’s youth sector is a great responsibility. May God help us, bless our efforts and allow us to serve our home wherever we are asked to do so,” he wrote.

He added: “God willing, I will prove equal to the responsibility and be able to promote players who can serve the first team.”

Gaafar concluded by thanking the club’s board, with particular recognition for Hussein El Sayed, the general supervisor of football, and Hazem Emam for their confidence and support.

” I thank the board of directors, especially Captain Hussein El Sayed, the general supervisor of football, and Captain Hazem Emam for their trust and support,” Gaafar said.

The appointment marks Gaafar’s return to Zamalek in an official capacity and places him at the head of the club’s youth sector. His stated aim is to help develop players capable of progressing to the first team, while working within the framework established by the club’s sector leadership.

Zamalek’s board has therefore finalised the principal appointments covering the youth, junior and academy departments, with Emam at the top of the structure, El-Mandoh as his deputy, El-Maamour overseeing goalkeeper-coach development and Gaafar taking charge of the youth sector’s technical work.
