Ahmed Fattouh returns to Egypt training ahead of South Africa friendly

Ahmed Fattouh has returned to full Egypt training after recovering from a thigh injury sustained during the 5-0 victory over South Sudan.

Fattouh took part in the team’s latest session at Cairo International Stadium after completing his rehabilitation programme. He had suffered a thigh bruise during Egypt’s match against South Sudan.

Egypt have completed their preparations at the stadium for Sunday’s friendly against South Africa, which is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time at the same venue.

A total of 22 players participated in the training session, with Fattouh’s return providing a boost to head coach Hossam Hassan before the match.

Egypt’s win over South Sudan came in the second round of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The coaching staff, in coordination with the medical team, decided to rest Haitham Hassan for the South Africa game.
