Ahmed Azab joins Belluno Volley ahead of Italian second-division season

Egypt international volleyball player Ahmed Azab has joined Italian club Belluno Volley from Al Ahly, with the team confirming the deal as it strengthens its squad before the new Italian second-division campaign.

Azab, 24, plays as an outside hitter and will be Belluno’s final signing ahead of the forthcoming season. He is expected to wear the number 22 shirt for the club.

The move gives Belluno a player with significant international experience. Azab represented Egypt at the Paris Olympics, where he produced strong performances against some of the world’s leading national teams.

Before joining Belluno, Azab played for Petrojet and Al Ahly in Egypt. He also gained experience outside the country after moving to Qatar to play for Al Rayyan at the end of last season.

Belluno sporting director Alessandro Carniel said the club had received strong recommendations about the Egyptian international from both his former club and Egypt head coach Marco Bonitta.

“We received strong recommendations regarding Ahmed Azab, both from the club and from his national team coach Marco Bonitta,” Carniel said.

He added that the club had been convinced of the player’s suitability after watching him closely.

“After following him, we were convinced that he was right for us because he is a strong attacking player and has an excellent spike from high balls,” Carniel said.

Carniel also praised Azab’s serving ability and expressed confidence that he would fit effectively into the team.

“He also has a good serve, and we believe he will complement the rest of the team brilliantly,” he added.

Belluno are preparing to compete in the Italian second division, with the club aiming to deliver a strong season and challenge near the top of the table for promotion to the top flight.

Azab’s arrival is intended to add further attacking strength to the squad as Belluno finalise their preparations for the new campaign. His ability in attack, combined with his international background and experience in Egypt and Qatar, is expected to form an important part of the club’s plans.

The signing also marks another step in Azab’s career after his Olympic involvement with Egypt and his recent spell at Al Rayyan. Belluno will now look to integrate the outside hitter into the team before the league competition begins.
