Ahmed Ayman Mansour begins first overseas move with Libyan club Dranse

Ahmed Ayman Mansour has joined Libyan club Dranse on a free transfer, beginning the first overseas chapter of his professional career after leaving Egyptian side Al Masry at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old former Egypt international confirmed the move, with Dranse set to compete in the Libyan Premier League during the 2026-27 season. The club did not qualify for last season’s final stage, which determines the competition’s title winner.

The Libyan league is expected to begin in October.

Mansour’s departure from Al Masry followed the expiry of his contract. He left the club after helping them win the Egypt Capital Cup last season, bringing an end to his second spell with the team.

He initially represented Al Masry between 2015 and 2018 before returning in the summer of 2023 from Zamalek. Across his time with the club, Mansour made 107 appearances, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.

The defender has also played for Tala’ea El Gaish, Pyramids and Modern Sport during his career. His move to Dranse will be his first experience of playing outside Egypt.

Mansour announced the transfer in a post on Instagram, writing:

“A new step and a new challenge in my career. I ask God for success in what is to come, and that He grants me goodness and success in my new experience.

“I am excited to begin a new chapter. God willing, I will live up to everyone’s expectations, give everything I have and achieve new ambitions and goals.

“We put our trust in God… and what is coming will be better, God willing.”

The move gives Mansour the opportunity to continue his career in Libya after a run of domestic experience with some of Egypt’s established clubs. He joins Dranse ahead of the new league campaign, with the club seeking to improve on last season’s performance and reach the title-deciding stage.

For Mansour, the transfer represents a significant change after spending his entire professional career in Egyptian football. His previous clubs include Tala’ea El Gaish, Al Masry, Pyramids, Modern Sport and Zamalek, while his international background includes representing Egypt before moving into this new phase of his career.

The defender’s agreement with Dranse is a free transfer, following his release from Al Masry at the conclusion of his previous contract.
