Ahmed Adebayo: Nigerian striker joins FC KTP from IK Start in Finland switch

Nigerian forward Ahmed Adebayo has joined Finnish side FC KTP from Norwegian club IK Start, strengthening the Ykkosliiga outfit’s attacking options ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The 24-year-old centre-forward, who stands at 1.88m and favours his right foot, moves after a productive spell in Malta and Norway last season, during which he featured predominantly for Valletta while on loan from IK Start. The move to KTP is a completed transfer, with the Finnish club adding a physically imposing presence through the middle.

Adebayo enjoyed a notable 2025-26 campaign, hitting five goals and one assist in 15 Premier League Closing Round matches and adding another strike in two NM-Cup appearances. Across those competitions he delivered a strong goal contribution in limited minutes, underlining his effectiveness in front of goal when given regular opportunities.

His form in Malta was capped by lifting the Maltese Cup with Valletta in the 2025-26 season, adding silverware to his CV before returning to IK Start at the end of his loan. He had joined the Norwegian side in August 2025 from Estonian club JK Tammeka.

Born on 18 June 2002, Adebayo has accumulated experience across several European leagues, including spells in Latvia and Estonia before breaking through in top-flight action. His arrival gives KTP an additional option as an out-and-out centre-forward, capable of leading the line in Finland’s second tier.

Adebayo officially joined FC KTP on 14 July 2026, completing his move from IK Start to the Ykkosliiga club.
