Ahmed Abu Muslim, former star of Al-Ahly, expressed his views on the current coach of the Egyptian national team, Rui Vitoria, comparing him to a “squid” and suggesting he lacked any innovative ideas or projects to implement in Egyptian football.
Abu Muslim pointed out the exorbitant salary of the coach, stating that if he were in Portugal, he would never receive such a high sum.
In a television statement, Abu Muslim remarked, “All the remarkable successes of Egyptian coaches, and there were outstanding teams that achieved good results earlier.
The youth team won a bronze medal in 2001, and there were good coaches and many talents.
The problem was with the senior national team.
The last tournament they won was the 2013 African Cup, led by Rabie Yassin with the youth team.”
He continued, “We have good personnel in sports management, such as Tamer Abu Zaid, Mahmoud Taha, and Majed Sami, and all the talents came from Wadi Degla Club in recent years.
Egyptian elements are capable of developing the system.”
Abu Muslim predicted Morocco’s loss to South Africa and still places his bet on Mali.
He explained, “The Moroccan national team has a problem in the defense line, and their playing style has become predictable.
There are no longer any technical surprises from Walid Regragui.
He should have developed the offensive style and introduced other elements on the field.”
He further stated, “It would have been better for Walid Regragui to change his playing style, especially with the South African coach imposing tight control on the strong elements in the Moroccan team.”
In conclusion, Abu Muslim remarked, “All the Arab national teams are in trouble, while the rest of the African teams have shown progress and started relying on young stars and qualified staff.”
