Ahmed Abdelraouf is not good enough to coach Zamalek - Former Al Ahly star Islam El Shater

Former Al Ahly star, Islam El Shater, beleives Zamalek SC caretaker coach Ahmed Abdelraouf is not good enough to lead the club.

Abdelraouf was appointed as caretaker coach earlier this month after the White Knights parted ways with Belgian manager Yannick Ferreira.

He has overseen three games so far, registering two victories and one defeat in the Egyptian Super Cup final.

However, El Shater has spoken out against the permanent appointment of Abdelraouf, as Zamalek’s search for a new manager continues.

Al-Shater said on the channel, MBC Masr 1: “Is Ahmed Abdelraouf present because of his relationship with sports director John Edward?”

“He is a good technical director, but Zamalek’s value is greater than Ahmed Abdelraouf, because the opposite has not been proven.

“Ahmed Abdelraouf lost the Super Cup. He might be a ‘good coach’, but the value of Zamalek is greater than Ahmed Abdelraouf,” he added.

Meanwhile, Zamalek will take on Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
