The head coach of Al Ahly’s first football team, Swiss tactician Marcel Koller, has excluded three players from his plans for the remainder of the season.
According to sources close to the club, Koller has decided to sideline Mahmoud Metwally, Ahmed Abdelkader, and Karim Nedved until the end of the season.
The trio was asked to leave the team during the winter transfer window, but they declined to engage in any swap deals.
Reasons Behind Koller’s Request for the Departure of the Trio
A source within the club revealed that Koller requested the departure of Metwally and Nedved due to their recurrent injuries, which the Swiss coach described as chronic.
Metwally has been struggling with frequent muscle injuries, while Nedved has been grappling with knee discomfort.
As for Ahmed Abdelkader, he has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff due to ongoing conflicts and a lack of reliance on his services in the team lineup.
Currently, Abdelkader is also nursing a hamstring injury.
European and Local Offers for Abdelkader, Nedved, and Metwally
Ahmed Abdelkader has received several offers from abroad, including a proposition from the Turkish league.
Meanwhile, Nedved and Metwally have attracted interest from clubs in the Egyptian Premier League.
The trio’s future at Al Ahly remains uncertain, with their exclusion marking a significant development in the team’s roster dynamics.
As the season progresses, Koller and his coaching staff will be looking to optimize the squad’s composition for optimal performance in domestic and continental competitions.
