Ahmed Shobeir, the prominent sports commentator, has revealed that the Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, head coach of the first football team at Al Ahly Club, has requested the departure of Mahmoud Metwally, the team’s defender, during the ongoing winter transfer window.
In a television statement on “ON Time Sports,” Shobeir disclosed a new development at Al Ahly, reminiscent of Koller’s past experience with Ayman Ashraf last season, but this time featuring Mahmoud Metwally.
“Koller has high regard for Mahmoud Metwally, considering him a distinguished player.
He was a regular starter after Koller took over as Ahly’s coach, and the player joined the national team. However, he suffered another injury setback, and the coach insisted on keeping him.
Therefore, Ahly decided to send the player to Qatar for treatment,” Shobeir explained.
He continued, “The player has suffered multiple injuries since then, leading Koller to tell Ahly officials that Mahmoud Metwally’s story with him has ended, and it’s difficult for him to continue.
Despite Metwally’s request to stay with Ahly until the end of the season, Koller believes that the player emits negative energy to the team.
The coach is convinced of Metwally’s capabilities, but his frequent injuries have become a concern.”
“Al Ahly has informed the player to look for a club where he can participate regularly.
However, the player wishes to continue until the end of the season.
Most likely, his situation will become similar to Ayman Ashraf’s,” Shobeir concluded.
This revelation adds a new layer of intrigue to Al Ahly’s ongoing season, shedding light on the complexities and challenges faced by the coaching staff in managing player dynamics and team cohesion.
