The first football team of Al Ahly will contend with the absence of a significant number of its international players alongside some sidelined due to injuries.
As part of its preparations for upcoming competitions following the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Al Ahly will be without eight players who joined the Egyptian national team camp.
These players include Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hani, Omar Kamal Abdel-Wahab, Marwan Attia, Imam Ashour, and Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba.”
Additionally, three professional players, Percy Tau with the South African national team, Aliou Dieng with Mali, and Ali Maaloul with Tunisia, will be absent for the same reason.
This brings the total number of Al Ahly players participating in the Africa Cup of Nations to 11.
Injuries have further impacted Al Ahly’s lineup as five players, Ahmed Abdelkader, Mahmoud Metwally, Ahmed Nabil “Kouka,” Karim Nedved, and Reda Slim, are sidelined due to various injuries sustained in recent times.
Notably, Salah Mohsen has been excluded from traveling with Al Ahly to the United Arab Emirates, as per a tactical decision by Marcelo Cuello, the team’s head coach.
Mohsen is now on the verge of departing from Al Ahly during the ongoing transfer window.
The friendly encounter against Hatta Emirates serves as a crucial part of Al Ahly’s post-Africa Cup of Nations preparations, providing an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the team’s dynamics and adjust strategies ahead of future challenges.
