Reports from Saudi Arabia indicate that German coach Matthias Jaissle, the head coach of Ahli Jeddah, has yet to finalize who will replace their Ivorian professional, Frank Kessie.
Ahli is preparing to face Al-Akhdoud tomorrow, Friday, at the Prince Hazloul bin Abdul Aziz Sports City Stadium in Najran, as part of the 20th round of matches in the Saudi Professional League.
According to Saudi newspaper “Al Riyadh,” Matthias Jaissle is deliberating between Ali Al-Asmari and Ziyad Al-Jahni to include one of them in the starting lineup against Al-Akhdoud, replacing Frank Kessie.
Kessie will be absent from the match against Al-Akhdoud after being granted leave following his participation in the African Cup of Nations 2023, where his country emerged victorious in the tournament that concluded last Sunday.
The newspaper clarified that the German coach focused on Al-Asmari and Al-Jahni during the full-pitch training session held on Wednesday evening to assess their readiness and select the most suitable option to compensate for Kessie’s absence.
It’s worth mentioning that Ahli currently occupies the third position in the Saudi Professional League standings, with 40 points, accumulated from 12 wins and 4 draws in 19 league matches.
