Togo’s Foovi Aguidi Joins Hearts of Oak on Two-Year Deal
Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed the signing of Togolese striker Foovi Aguidi on a two-year contract, following a successful trial period with the Ghanaian Premier League giants. The 23-year-old forward joins the Phobians as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Aguidi arrives from Santos FC and brings with him a reputation as a promising talent from the West African region. He finished last season as the second-highest scorer in the Burkina Faso top flight, netting 12 goals—a performance that caught the attention of several clubs in the region, including Hearts of Oak.
With the Ghanaian side finishing third in the league last season, club officials believe Aguidi’s signing could inject fresh energy into their front line and help mount a stronger title challenge.
“He’s quick, technically solid, and has a good eye for goal,” a club insider said. “We believe he will add something special to our attack.”
Aguidi’s journey to Accra has been anything but straightforward. Originally groomed at the Agbodrafo Sports Academy, he rose through the ranks at Maranatha before catching the eye of Belgian scouts. However, a planned move to Europe was derailed due to health complications, forcing the forward to stay in West Africa and reassess his options.
Now fit and eager for a fresh start, Aguidi sees the move to Ghana as a chance to showcase his abilities on a larger platform. Ghana’s top flight has increasingly become a springboard for West African players aiming for European exposure, and Aguidi will be hoping to follow a similar path.
This move not only strengthens Hearts of Oak’s attacking unit but also adds international flair to a side intent on reclaiming domestic dominance. For Aguidi, the challenge is clear: deliver goals and prove he’s ready for the next step.
