Luis Suarez is definitely facing a storm beyond just his FIFA suspension. After the biting incident against Giorgio Chiellini and the heavy sanctions, Adidas—one of his major sponsors—has publicly distanced itself from him.
In an official statement, Adidas expressed strong disapproval:
They do not accept Suarez’s behavior and emphasized the high standards they expect from their athletes.
Adidas won’t use Suarez in any marketing activities during the 2014 World Cup.
They fully support FIFA’s disciplinary decision.
Additionally, Adidas’ press officer in São Paulo hinted that future plans involving Suarez will be reviewed after the World Cup, which leaves the door open to possibly terminating their contract with him.
This is a big deal because sponsorship deals are key to a player’s image and income, and losing Adidas could have serious financial and reputational consequences for Suarez.
