Another weekend of football across Europe’s top five leagues, and once again, African internationals featured prominently. Here’s a rundown of their performances:

Germany – Matchday 22:

  • Dominique Kumbela continued his fine form in the Bundesliga, scoring for Braunschweig in their 1-2 loss against Nuremberg. Despite his efforts, Braunschweig remains at the bottom of the table.
  • Ivorian defender Arthur Boka netted for Stuttgart in their match against Hertha Berlin, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 1-2.

Italy – Matchday 25:

  • AC Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Sampdoria, with Moroccan Adel Taarabt scoring his second goal in three matches. Franco-Moroccan Adil Rami also found the back of the net for Milan.

France – Matchday 26:

  • Prince Oniangué scored a double for Reims, helping them secure a draw against Monaco. Despite his efforts, Reims conceded a late goal and lost 3-2.
  • Senegalese Henri Saivet scored for Bordeaux as they defeated Evian Thonon Gaillard 2-1.
  • Mustapha Yatabaré ended his goal drought by scoring the only goal in Guingamp’s 1-0 win over Nice.

Spain – Matchday 25:

  • Alexandre Song scored an own goal for Barcelona in their 1-3 defeat against Real Sociedad, marking his first loss in a Barcelona shirt.

England – Matchday 27:

  • Wilfried Bony scored a brace for Swansea in their 4-3 loss against Liverpool, but his efforts couldn’t secure a victory for his team.
  • Yaya Touré scored the only goal for Manchester City in their 1-0 win over Stoke City, showcasing his importance to the team.
