African Stars sack Gerald Guther after just two matches

African Stars have dismissed head coach Gerald Guther less than a month after appointing him, following a poor start to the season.

Guther was in charge for only two official matches before the Namibian club’s management decided to end his tenure. The decision follows the team’s disappointing results in a two-legged preliminary-round tie against Orlando Pirates in the CAF inter-club competitions.

African Stars suffered heavy defeats in both matches, bringing their continental campaign to an early end and prompting the club’s leadership to seek an immediate change.

The board is now working to appoint a successor capable of reviving the team’s fortunes in the national championship. Guther’s early departure highlights the intense pressure placed on coaches after setbacks on the African stage, even at the beginning of their time in charge.
