Ghana and West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus has charged African players to show their skills and qualities when given the opportunity.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Kudus criticized the circumstances which limit African players from showcasing their abilities.
“Mostly, when African players are being described, it’s more about their physique, strength, and their speed,” he said.
“In my eyes, I believe that we have skilful players. I would urge more African players to be who they are and enjoy their qualities and stuff.”
The 24-year-old cited Manchester City legend Yaya Toure as an example of a player whose talent was often undermined.
“Yaya Toure was crazy, untouchable. He had more than pace and power.”
“You need a lot of flair to be beating players. This league, everyone, is strong. Everyone is strong and fast, so you need something special to do that.”
Following his explosive performance last season, Kudus has struggled in the ongoing season, scoring just four times for the Hammers.
Kudus was in action as West Ham suffered a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.
