The Algerian national handibasket team has made a strong start to the 4th edition of the African Championship, held in Angola from October 26 to November 2. In the opening matches, the reigning champions secured victories against Morocco (63-44) and the host country Angola (70-40).
The coaching duo of Toufik Meddour and Mohamed Tahar Kisrane emphasized the importance of the opening match against Morocco, considering it crucial for a successful start in the tournament. The Algerian players demonstrated their commitment on the field and achieved victory against a resilient Moroccan team.
Building on the momentum, Algeria continued their impressive performance by defeating the host country Angola by a significant margin. With two wins in two matches, the team looks forward to facing Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa in the remaining matches of the first round.
The competition features six teams, and the second round will commence on Friday, November 1, following a 24-hour break on Thursday, October 31. The top four teams from the first round will proceed to the semi-finals, while the 5th and 6th teams will compete for the 5th place. The final and the third-place playoff are scheduled for November 2.
