Youssef Msakni, the talented Tunisian footballer, underwent appendicitis surgery, which kept him out of the first leg of the African Champions League final. The likelihood of him participating in Esperance de Tunis’ match against Cairo National on November 17 appears very low.
Esperance’s coach, Nabil Maaloul, provided an update on Msakni’s condition during a sports broadcast, stating, “Youssef Msakni? It’s almost impossible to get him back for the return match on November 17. However, we will do our best so that he can be operational, but it is very unlikely.”
Msakni is one of the contenders for the Glo CAF Awards title of the best player playing on the continent. His absence from crucial matches could potentially impact his standing among competitors for the award. The other local players nominated for the title include Mohamed Abouterika (Egypt, Al-Ahly), Yannick Ndjeng (Cameroon, Esperance Tunis), Rainford Kalaba (Zambia, TP Mazembe), and Stoppila Sunzu (Zambia, TP Mazembe).
