Adebayor on Target Again as Spurs Defeat Schalke in Final Pre-Season Friendly
Emmanuel Adebayor continued his impressive pre-season form as Tottenham Hotspur rounded off their preparations for the new campaign with a 2-1 victory over Schalke 04 at White Hart Lane.
The Togolese striker, who scored in Spurs’ emphatic 6-1 win over Celtic last week, opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Adebayor slotted home from a Lewis Holtby cross to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side a deserved lead going into the break.
After the interval, Spanish forward Roberto Soldado replaced Adebayor and added a second for the home side. Schalke responded late on through Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng, but Spurs held firm to secure the win.
The North London club will now turn their attention to the start of the Premier League season, buoyed by a strong finish to their summer friendlies.
